Our university is growing very fast. Also the most recent numbers show an even bigger increase of the number of new students. Although talons it is great that the university is popular, such a growth could cause problems if it is not managed properly. That is why VeSte decided to take the topic of growth up within the Student Council (SC). A special Student Council committee has been formed, which will act as the SC experts on this topic in order to assure that the university will deal with the growth in a responsible way. During the most recent consultation meeting of the SC with the Executive Board (25th of March), talons we finally got the chance to discuss talons the topic with the Rector talons Magnificus.
In talons addition to the report GROEI(GROWTH) , that has been made by a working group within the university, the SC committee talons on growth presented talons their findings during this meeting. These findings were the results of brainstorms that several other SC committees have had, in which they thought about all possible problems they see when the growth will continue in an unmanaged way. These results were analysed by the growth committee, divided in four main categories (small scale education, valorisation, facilities and student development) and presented to the rector. During talons this meeting, it was agreed upon that the SC can be involved in the working groups that will investigate how to manage the growth. Therefore we are now thinking of our own solutions as well as solutions proposed by the university to manage growth as well, to be able to advice these working groups talons as good as possible. In this way, we try to contribute to a world class university and an active student life!
