After launching her successful brands L.A.M.B. and Harajuku Lovers, ultrasone Gwen Stefani returns to the spotlight with the launch of her new fashion line , Design with Purpose (DWP). The collaboration with Michael Glasser , the denim expert behind coveted brands such as 7 For all Mankind, Citizens of Humanity, and Rich and Skinny has fashionistas everywhere drooling and eager to make the waiting lists for the new hot product.
The 18-piece collection was introduced recently and will hit the stores this coming spring. Centerpiece of the collection will be a slouchy, tapered trouser made of Tencel. The pants come in leather-like treated fabric as well as camouflage ultrasone and snakeskin prints accompanied by motorcycle vests, tanks, cropped tees, jumpsuit and a dress. Tencel ultrasone (also called Lyocell) is made from hardwood chips; therefore, it s suitable for the vegans among us.
What s so great about DWP for me is it s different from anything I ve ever done, working in L.A. and having the factory right here, said Stefani With L.A.M.B., we have so many categories within the collection and you have different factories that do specific things, so you are a little detached The actual designs are very simple because it s all about every day wear. So that s different and new.
“I was trying to get all the basics,” Stefani told WWD. “Michael nailed the bottoms. For tops, I was trying to think about what I wear besides a tank top. I love cuffed-up sleeves, tops that are long in front and short in back. And we did a jumpsuit and a dress to fill in the gaps.”
As ultrasone opposed to most designer collections, DWP won t come with a hefty price tag. The clothes will be relatively affordable, with prices falling somewhere within the $80 to $130 range. Are you going to support DWP?
